Appraisal/Heads’ Appraisals

A Head's appraisal should aim to be affirming and challenging; but essentially a positive process for all involved. It’s about your school's leader, in your school at this stage in their career. 


Using a bespoke 360 degree structure for Heads and SLTs, my appraisal process includes onsite interviews with staff, pupils and parents; meetings and online surveys of staff, parents and governors and time spent with the Head/Senior staff. This results in a comprehensive report with qualitative and quantitative feedback and negotiated recommendations.


The report is shared with the Head and Chairman and should provide them with a framework to agree a personal development plan which may include some quick wins as well as actions to be taken over coming months and years. Further mentoring themes may also flow from the process.
